A few weeks back I went to Rite Aid to pick up Fever All suppositories. I couldn’t find them in the kids fever reducer section so I asked one of the pharmacy assistants (I’m assuming she was an assistant and not a pharmacist!).
Me: Do you guys have any fever reducer suppositories?
PA#1: Yes, they’re right there (points to a completely different section from where I was looking)
I go there and it’s like the gas relief section, so I ask her again.
Me: I don’t see them here, can you show it to me.
PA#1: (she walks over, picks something off the shelf and it’s suppositories for stool softening) Here you go.
Me: No, I’m looking for suppositories to reduce fever (AKA what I originally asked)
PA#1: OH, hmm… I’m not sure if we have those. (She walks over to PA#2)
PA#1: (to PA#2) Do we have suppositories to reduce fever?
PA#2: No, they don’t make those (confident)
ME: Well, I’ve bought them before. The brand was called Fever All.
PA#2: Oh, well then you have to get a prescription for your pediatrician for those. (again, with a confident response)
ME: I’ve never had to do that before. I’ve bought them over the counter at other stores.
PA#2: Oh, well let me look it up then. (HELLA confident I was wrong). What’s the brand?
Then the pharmacist (older lady) comes up and asks,
Pharmacist: What is it that you need?
Me: Fever All suppositories
Pharmacist: Oh, they’re right here (she pulls it out from behind counter in the pharmacy…). Here you go!
FAH-REAKIN A…. Why are these dang PA’s in their job if they don’t know what the hell they’re doing!!! C’mon now… Don’t get all high and mighty cuz you got a dang lab coat. If you don’t know, then ask your boss (the real pharmacist!) and not just assume and make up answers!!!
GEEZ.

Domain Name, cont.
So I finally heard back from Enom, where my domain name was registered (when I bought it through Google apps). They said I have to pay $250 to retrieve my domain name and then pay a $34.95 renewal fee. OH HELL to the NIZZO! WTF? Why would it cost $250 to freakin’ retrieve it? I don’t understand?! EFF THAT. I’m stickin’ to joyvillaverde.blogspot.com. UGH =/

Domain Name
Major fail.
So when I decided to publish my first post of the year yesterday, I realized my domain name had expired. After Googling, I found that even though I purchased my domain name through Google Apps, it is actually registered through Enom and so I have to contact them for support.... Apparently, this happened to others (according to forums) and they've said that once it expires, you can't get it for the $10 annual fee that Google charges you. Instead, you have to pay Enom's fee of $35... WTF? UGH. So now, I'm waiting for Enom to call/e-mail me and honestly, if that is going to be the case for me, I might just stick with good ol' joyvillaverde.blogspot.com. It's not like HELLA people check my blog anyway, if people even still read it these days!
Oh well.... So much for that. Major fail on my part. I should've read my e-mail reminders about renewing the dang domain name... Lesson learned.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year folks!
Jason’s goal for me in 2012 is not to lose weight, or gain weight (in my case), or exercise or even stop eating junk food… BUT TO BLOG! HAHA! What a goal, right? But shoot, I’ll take it! Sounds easy… although I haven’t made much of an effort last year to blog =( Life’s been just crazy busy as a mom!!!
Starting off the year has been kinda bleh….. Although it was exciting and fun to celebrate the new year with Jason’s family at the Fairmont, it was also my first NYE EVER without my parents or even my whole humongous family =( It was a very emotional day and I missed my parents so much. When I talked with my parents on the phone on NY day, I started to choke up when my mom passed the phone to my dad, but I didn’t want them to think I was sad… I really wanted them to have a good time… I MEAN, THEY ARE IN VEGAS!! And what a great way to celebrate NYE right? But seriously, I was kinda bummed… but I guess traditions do have to change and it’s not like I was without family during the countdown anyway. Plus, I was with Jacob and Jason which is the most important of all, and seeing Jacob yell and have fun counting down was the highlight of my night =)
SO ANYWAY, the following day, even though Jacob went to bed at 1 am, he STILL woke up at 7:30 a.m. GEEZ…. And because he didn’t get his full 9-10 hours of sleep, HE WAS SUPER CRANKY ALL DAY…. Not to mention, the hubs was sick too… So YUP, granted that I got the house cleaned, had all the bills paid, had money in my pocket and fruits on the table, January 1, 2012, was NOT a happening day for me.
I’m HOPING the rest of 2012 will be a good year. Actually IT WILL be a good a year. I’m going to make it a good year and I won’t let the first day dictate how 2012 will be… NO WAY!
SO Cheers to 2012 and to more blogging!! Hope everyone had a better New Years day than me and I wish everyone a blessed and fruitful year ahead!!!

My Birthday Tea
Yesterday I had my birthday tea with my besties…. It’s been our tradition for years to try out a new tea place for each of our birthdays and so this time we decided to try the tea at The Fairmont in San Jose… It was OK.. Better than Lisa’s Tea Treasures in Santana Row, but not as good as Love Joy’s. They didn’t have much of a tea selection, although the tea was still yummy (had the Darjeeling) and they didn’t provide that much food with the package we purchased…. All good. We still had much needed QT because it had been a while since us 4 had kicked it.
Afterwards, we went to Valley Fair to get some retail therapy! There’s nothing like shopping with some girlfriends… It makes it THAT much more funner =) I got me ANOTHER pair of red Toms (Red!!) and a fit to go with it! LOL …. We were there for 3 hours so we didn’t get home till 7 p.m. It was a long day with my girls but it was totally needed and I had a great time =)
You know, we don’t get to kick it as often as we want to – us four – but when we do, it just feels good… I don’t know if this makes sense but our friendship feels like home…. No matter how much time has lapsed from the time that we last kicked it, we’re still as close as ever… and I guess that’s what makes us bestfriends =)
I don’t know if you read this ladies, but I love you girls!!!

Terrible Two's
The Terrible Two’s have arrived 8 months early…
And OH MY…It is SOOOO mentally draining… SO MENTALLY DRAINING… especially when you have to deal with his tantrums after a long day of work! It also doesn’t help that Jacob is sick AND teething, too… I’m sure that is also causing a lot of his frustration. I’ve been reading online about how to discipline your toddler and there are so many ways to do it… One that I hear and have read often is ignoring the bad behavior…. That’s what I’ve BEEN doing and I don’t think it works for Jacob… I feel like when I do ignore him, it gets worse… it’s like I can hear him say in his mind, “OH YEAH!! You want to ignore me?! WELL IGNORE THIS!!!” And he makes his tantrum TEN TIMES worse!!! It’s like OHHHH MY… Nanny 911 please come to the rescue… I mean seriously… I cried one time after he tried scratching my face out because it hurt AND I was just soooo frustrated…. Both Jason and I keep thinking, when will this pass?!?! WILL IT EVER?!
It’s like every moment he’s told NO or if we reprimand him, he gets all crazy… he loves that lay-down-flail-my-arms-and-legs-like-crazy action!!! UGH! It’s like WTH did you get that?!
The last time I tried to ignore his flailing, he somehow made his mouth bleed… poor baby… and so I realized, ignoring him is not the way to go…. SOOOOO…. What I’m trying to do now is just hold him to make him not flail and just try to carefully and kindly tell him that what he’s doing is wrong (what I’ve also read on the internet)… then wait till he calms down (if he ever does) and then try to do something else to get his mind off of what the hell he was crying about in the first place…. I hope this will help.. I’m going to PRAY that this will help…
SHEESH… parenting is HELLLLA hard… and it is especially hard now because you can’t really communicate with them.. I mean, with Jacob, he has a few words… he knows to say “water” or “milk” when he wants it… but there are times when he can’t really express what he needs even if he’s pointing to something… Literally, he will point to a table of stuff and I’ll try to give him what he wants…I’ll offer everything on the table to him because I can’t really see what exactly he’s pointing at and it’s like none of the above?! SO THEN WHAT IS IT?!?! MUN!!!!!!
Gosh, I should’ve known that when we had a good year of a calm baby that everything was going to go downhill! LOL…. My SIL said that it’s just a phase and it will pass…. It’ll still be hard, but in a different way…. GOSH, I hope it passes soon…. This phase is just sooo not fun.

Template Design
I just spent a good hour revamping my blog.... as if people even check out my blog! LOL ...
Blogger came up dude! You can hella design your blog template in so many different ways AND there's all these cool gadgets you can add, too!!! You no longer have to go on some third party website to get a cool template design; you can just design your own template on Blogger! AND it's totally user friendly... You don't have to deal with all that HTML crap (what I had to do with my last blog template). Awesome!
Weird Baby Products
I found this article on weird baby products. This ish is hilarious! It's almost unbelievable that people are actually selling these products... Baby toupees? WHY dude?! I especially like the contraption where you can hang your baby in a public bathroom stall while you pee! LMAO!!
Freakin Crazy dude!!

Pick up
I go into Safeway in practically pajamas, with Crocs and no make-up and some dude wearing an oversized Kangol hat comes up to me while I'm in the freezer section.
Dude: Hi
Me: Hi (confused... do I know this guy?)
Dude: I'm interested in you, but I'm kind of in a rush, so can I just get your number?
Me: Um, I'm married
(silence... Dude walks away)
LMAO. Why dude? What a pick up line....
I KNOW I looked jacked at Safeway, so I'm thinking he must've been playing some truth or dare game where he had to get SOMEONE's number. Maybe he thought I would be an easy victim. WRONG! LOL

So. Not. Cool
Last, last week I got a filling done…. My tooth wasn’t even hurting, but when I had my 6 month check-up, they told me I had an old filling that was showing leakage and so they said I should probably get it re-done. Fine. I was a little hesitant at first because my tooth wasn’t even in pain and PLUS, it was going to cost me $135 – frikkin A – but whatever, might as well get it done now before it ends up BEING in pain and I end up getting a root canal.
So….ever since I got my filling, my tooth’s been a little sensitive to chewing and cold foods… Not really so much chewing, but more so cold foods, and I didn’t really feel the sensitivity as much until a few days ago when I had icecream. MUN. That’s when I thought, “Damn, he messed up on my filling…” I KNEW something went wrong!! When I got my filling done, towards the end, the dentist totally started doing all this weird stuff to my tooth and was asking his assistant for all these different tools… I wasn’t sure WHAT was going on, but something didn’t seem right…. I was beginning to think, “Did he EFF up or what?!?” Well obviously something went wrong cuz it freakin’ HURTS to eat icecream! UGH…
Well, a few days later I call up my dental office to let them know that my tooth is sensitive to cold foods and frikkin what do they tell me? They think I might have to get a root canal…. OH HELL FRIKKIN NO… UGH!!! What the hell just happened?! I come in for a check up, they find no cavities, but that I have an old filling to repair AND NOW I HAVE TO GET A ROOT CANAL? GEEEEZ…… I still have to see the dentist so he can examine the tooth to see why I’m feeling sensitive to cold foods, but dayam…. I am NOT trying to spend frikkin’ $400+ on a root canal after I had done paid $135 for a filling!!!
UGH. SO. NOT. COOL.
My appointment with my dentist is next Monday so I’m HOPING that when he checks out my tooth, all they really have to do is fix the filling…. =(

Oh, Motherhood
I’m just not feeling this phase in Jacob’s life right now… He doesn’t want to eat… He spits out the food we feed him… He knows how to pout and get all upset… He rolls over when we try to change his diaper... He hates to be held...and he’s just all over the place!! It’s CRAZY!!! I love the little dude, but he is tiring ME OUT. I am SO overdue for some ME TIME….
A mani, pedi, massage, facial…. SOMETHING!!!

Debt
I hate debt… I never like seeing a balance on my credit card especially at the start of a new year. I always try to pay it all off by the end of the year, but this year, it didn’t happen… It was just NOT possible…. So I’ve totally been on a spending hiatus until I can pay off my debt and I’m proud to say that I’m gonna be able to pay off my credit card in my next paycheck… Whoohoo! I can’t wait cuz then I can start shopping again!!! LOL… Just kidding…
Seriously though, I need to start saving… As I look back at what I’ve spent in the last year, I’ve realized… I SHOP TOO MUCH… it didn’t help that I was on maternity leave because all I did, besides watch Jacob, was go out and shop…. I swear, everyday I took him out to the mall or somewhere to go shopping!!! UGH…. Maybe now that I’ll be working all year (with the exception of vacation trips), I won’t spend as much… And especially now that I’m carpooling again, I won’t have the ability to stop by the store after work to run some errands and go to Target, aka by some cute tops while I’m at it… hahahaha…

I'm back!
I’m BACK!!!! SHEESH… 2010 flew by with a quickness…I can’t believe the last time I blogged was in June 2010!! The last half of 2010 was crazy busy… For a minute I thought I was gonna get laid off and then with planning for Jacob’s birthday party, our trip to Hawaii, the holidays and everything else, I just had NO TIME…. Hopefully now that work has calmed down a bit and life has become a little bit more routine and not hectic, I can spare some time to make an appearance on my blog...
So far, motherhood has been great…. The only thing I’ve been really missing is SLEEP…. UGH. Jacob hasn’t been able to sleep through the night… he wakes up in the middle of the night and if we’re lucky, all we have to do is pat him on the back, give him his pacifier and he’s back to sleep… But other times, he’ll be up standing in his crib and we have to get him and rock him to bed… Sometimes if we’re lazy, we’ll just take him to our bed and while he tires himself out by moving all over the bed and standing and jumping while holding onto our headboard (lol) he eventually falls asleep…
It’s soooo exhausting, it’s no wonder I get soo tired by 9 p.m. UGH…. It sucks because when he was like 4 months he slept through the night. It was AWESOME. He would wake up at 6 a.m. I would nurse him, then he’d go back to sleep for another 3 hours…. Now he’s just up by 6 a.m. to start the day!!! AND ON FRIKKIN WEEKENDS, too!! UGH…
There is just no sleeping in for us anymore =(
Oh well, at least we get to start our weekends early... Gotta look at the bright side of things, right?
Anyway, Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Kicks
Two nights ago Jason was out of town for work, so I decided to let Jacob sleep with me so that I'd have someone to cuddle with :) BOY, was THAT a bad decision!!! Homeboy was moving and kicking ALL NIGHT!! When I tried to stay close to him to cuddle, he kept kicking me!! It was like he was trying to tell me "Mommy, you're crowding up my space! Give me some room!" LOL... I tried to stay as parallel as I could so he wouldn't be able to kick me at all, but, yeah, THAT didn't help!!! Once I did that, he totally turned 90 degrees so he could be perpendicular to me and started kicking me again! I was like WTH?! Straight non-stop kicks dude! And he was totally asleep, too!! No crying, no whining, just major leg movements!!!
Needless to say, even though Jacob had a good night's sleep, I SURE DIDN'T.... I know he moves a lot in his sleep, but I didn't realize it was THAT MUCH.... That, or maybe he just wasn't as comfortable as he usually is in his crib?! I don't know.... ALL I KNOW is that I ain't doing that AGAIN!!!
Sorry buddy.. maybe when you get a little older, we can cuddle at night! For now, you're stickin' to your crib!!!

Yay! I did it!
Jacob turned 6 months last Monday (Yay!). My goal was to nurse him and feed him breastmilk exclusively for 6 months and I did it! Yay to me! I'm so proud of myself because there were so many times when I just wanted to stop and call it quits... not so much nursing him, but more for just the pumping part of it... especially with having to do it at work... It's just so annoying to do... but with Jason's encouragement and support and also knowing that it's for the good of Jacob's health, I totally stuck through it! Whoohoo!!
I actually told myself that after 6 months I'd stop pumping and just continue nursing until Jacob gets his chompers in, but I've just continued... I mean, I've already got a routine down, I might as well just keep going until I just don't have any milk to give him... Plus, we save money! My stash of frozen milk IS depleting though, so soon enough we're going to have to supplement with formula...
And as far as nursing, I've really come to enjoy it as my bonding time with my baby boy..Once he gets his chompers, that will be it for me though, hahaha. I'm sure when the time comes, I'll really miss that special bonding time. Plus, I'll miss the convenience of it - not having to bring bottles or formula wherever we go, just ME! LOL
Mann, just like there's a push gift, there should be a nursing gift and for however months you save on buying formula, that's how much your gift should be! LMAO!!!

Random Thoughts... again
I haven't been really doing a good job of blogging :( It's just been so busy these days...
Actually, no.. I take that back... I've just been lazy, hahaha... Especially with the weather hella nice right now, you don't want to do anything but be outdoors to enjoy the sun :)
Just some thoughts...
* Our house has been invaded by baby gadgets...from the swing to the bouncer and now the newest addition, his exersaucer... Good thing we moved to Mendota cuz all of that would NOT have fit in our itty bitty Foxwood living room. MUN. It's sort of an eye sore having all this crap around, but you JUST gotta deal with it.... One thing that's really causing a major eye sore is this foam mat we got.. It's one of those interlocking alphabet foam mats. It's just way too colorful and it's hella efforts to take apart and put back. I wish we just had one that could roll out anytime we wanted to use it, kinda like a square thick yoga mat but I can't seem to find one (at least online).
* Jacob hella rolls over now! It's sooo cute and he does it so quick now. He totally doesn't stay put anymore when you put him down. The moment you put him on his back (awake), he totally turns over quick.
* Jacob hasn't pood in 6 days... SIX DAYS! I hope he poos today... seriously. It's getting me worried but I talked to an advice nurse and she said it's normal for breastfed babies. She said they can even go for 14 days! WTH? Just doesn't seem right.
* Jacob doesn't seem to HELLA laugh... Every now and then we can get good sessions of him laughing out loud, but for the most part, playing "peek-a-boo" does not phase him. He usually just smiles and is like OK, whatever! LOL .... He HELLA smiles though... totally warms your heart... and those eyes :) I think that's his best feature...
* Pretty soon we'll be introducing Jacob to solids! I know he's totally ready because he hella watches us eat, LOL, but I want to wait when he's 6 months. I'm so excited for him though! I'm thinking of making his food but is a Beaba really neccessary? Does a blender work just as good? I guess I need to do more research...... Any advice on making baby food?
I'm just noticing my thoughts are all about Jacob, hahaha... OK... lemme think of non-Jacob thoughts...
* Shopping... I've been on this mission to find a TV stand, a rug and art work for our bedroom for hella months now and it's kinda getting irritating... I don't know where else to look! I keep thinking the right one will come along, but I feel like I've been searching for EVER!! Any ideas?
* I'm in need of a haircut. BAD. Oh, and a manicure and pedicure... I just haven't found the time. Normally I'd make appointments to do these things during the weekday, but it's just so hard to do them after work. After work I just want to go home and see Jacob.. And if I do them after work, it's just less time for me to be with him in the evening...PLUS, my stylist is all the way in Dublin. And she takes hella days to cut hair (which is a good thing) so it would take up my whole evening!! UGH. I just need to set an appointment and get it done.
* If what Gizmodo's showing is really the new iphone, I am SO getting it, LOL ... I know I've been anti-iphone and pro-blackberry for some time now, but that new iphone just looks so cool. And plus, my dang blackberry is too slow, especially with Facebook... I think I'm ready to make the change!! I can't wait!
OK, gotta get some work done now.... I think Jacob's about to wake up!! Till next time....

Back at work
I've been back at work for almost two weeks now, and let me tell you... it is friggin' hard. Yeah, I only work in the office from 10 to 3, but still, that just means I gotta somehow fit in 3 hours of work at home WITH a baby!! And going to work at 10 a.m. hella does not mean sleeping in... it's the total opposite... I still gotta wake up early (like at 5:30 or 6) either to nurse or pump... then I gotta prep all of Jacob's bottles for the day... get ready for work... then do some work at home... and mind you, this is only if Jacob is still sleeping.. If he's up for the rest of the day, somehow I gotta do all this while taking care of him!
And cleaning... I don't know how the hell you're supposed to fit in cleaning with all this happening. I can't even somehow fit in dinner. I don't even know when was the last time we even cooked at home!!
I totally give it up to moms who work, because this ish is HARD ..... NO JOKE.
Anyway, I just had to vent... after two weeks of work, it's just hitting me now that being a working mom is hard.... but you just gotta plow through it and breathe...

Week and a Half Left
A week and a half more to go and I'll be back at work...
I'm going to miss my days with Jacob :( I'll miss seeing him wake up and smiling at me ... I'll miss reading to him... shopping with him (LOL)... and I'll just miss seeing him learn/do new things. I get so sad thinking I might miss seeing him roll over for the very first time, or sit up for the very first time.... It just SUCKS that I have to go back to work... And I know I keep blogging about this, but seriously, it totally SUCKS.
Aside from going back to work, next week will be my birthday.. Wahoo! Nothing exciting, I'm only turning 31, but it'll be my first birthday as a mom :) Hopefully the weather will be nice because Jason will be taking the day off to celebrate my birthday. Maybe we can go to the zoo?! We'll see.. Let's pray for sunshine on April 9!
Oh and update to the whole crib transition.... Jacob has been sleeping in his crib for over a week now! The first night he slept in his crib, we set up the air bed so we can sleep in his room in case he wakes up hella times during the night. We totally DID NOT have to do that, because on his first night, he slept 9.5 hours straight!! His longest stretch ever! Now his schedule is sleeping from 9 - 6 and then after I feed him at 6 he goes back to bed and sleeps for another 3-4 hours. He's been really good about going to sleep on his own in the crib, too... Usually after I feed him at 6 a.m. he's pretty wide awake, but I put him down anyway and within 15-20 minutes he is out! I can hear him in the monitor totally talking and moving and then all of a sudden he starts hella snoring... hahaha. It's so cute. Even with him in the other room, I got snoring to my right (the monitor) and snoring to my left (Jason). LOL. I'm just so glad he sleeps well in his crib...
Stay tuned on his next transition - my Dad babysitting Jacob! Wish the both of them luck!

One More Month
In approximately one month I'll be going back to work... Boooooo.... Just thinking about it makes me sad... not to actually be working again, but to be leaving my baby :( I know he'll be in good hands with my Dad, but still.... I've been so use to being with him throughout the day for 4 straight months that it'll be hard to get off that routine!
I have no idea how life is gonna be with both me and Jason working again... With me at home, I've been able to clean the house, do the laundry, run errands, etc. Now that I'll be working we'll have to do all these things either AFTER work or on the weekend... TIRING!!! If only I could be a stay at home mom...Too bad we got bills, bills, bills :(

I guess the good thing about going back to work is not being able to shop during the day!! LOL .. I think I shop more when I'm on maternity leave then when I'm at work! MUN!
And on another note, I can finally fit into my work clothes, so no new work wardrobe for me! Whoohoo! I was getting worried I'd have to buy new slacks and suits, cuz that ish ain't cheap!!!
Speaking of weight, I'm back to my normal weight, which normally I'd say "whoohoo" to that, but I don't know why I still got a muffin top?? Am I losing weight in other places? I'm also worried that losing too much weight might reduce my milk supply? Is that possible? I guess I should Google it, lol.
Aside from the huge transition of going to work and leaving Jacob with Papa Lou, there's also the transition of moving Jacob from his bassinet to his crib. Our plan was to transfer him after the "fourth trimester" but he hasn't grown out of his bassinet so I've been kinda hesitant. I'm also just emotionally not ready :( It just makes me sad to know he'll be sleeping alone in his big crib, especially when he's so little. Another thing is that he sleeps so well in his bassinet. He's been really good about falling asleep on his own and going straight to sleep after his middle of the night feedings... I just hope he stays like that when we move him to his crib... Let's pray for a smooth transition!
Wow. I still can't believe I'm a mom. Sometimes it feels so surreal... It's like me and Jason are playing house and we have a doll that we get to dress up in really cute clothes, lol... It's just so crazy!
